0 commentsEarlier in the web people was speculating about a new Nseries phone N96 which looks like a vista-fied version of N95 (with photos claimed to be fake). And today while opening up the nseries website from my phone , there you are! the official announcement of N96 (announced 2 days ago at Mobile World Congress)!
woot. cool device ;) way to go Nokia, my N80's value has been lowered again. hate you! This bastard has 128MB RAM, 256MB system memory (for OS + software) and 16GB (!!!) of storage memory. Probably gonna cost a fortune...
More info at http://www.nseries.com/index.html#l=products,n96
0 commentswhen reinstalling Nokia PC Suite, it prompts that a newer version of PC Suite is available.
I installed it and i think looks pretty cool ;)
0 commentsIf you have a phone with wifi, never never miss the two great software. as for MSN, I am not sure non-Nokia phones can work or not ;)
Number one, Windows Messenger Live! is on Nokia now! Here's a guide on how to install it http://europe.nokia.com/A4487158 - to me WM Live is -THE- messenger i am stuck with on my N80. Although Fring (www.fring.com) can do Skype, googletalk , MSN, and ICQ all at once. but the interface sucks, no smiley support, and so it is dull as hell (or heaven, whichever you believe in). Other nice features are smiley support, snap picture or record sound clip and send directly from your phone's camera, plus a very solid and polished interface.
Number two on the list is (and i kept saying it...) Shozu! This one is easy, go signup and download at www.shozu.com. No need to say more, Shozu let u upload all your video and photos to flickr google youtube (and other less popular) with few button press -- no textmalaysia support yet :@ hehehehee
See my flickr photos (http://www.flickr.com/photos/yinsee) and you will know why i recommended Shozu too many times.

0 commentsGuess what? Another new firmware for N80! Backup, Flash, kaboom! I am running the updater now. :)
update: its done :)

0 commentsAfter searching up down left right for > 1 hour, i finally found one that is working (but in chinese site)here's a 360 of my room with kkciao. quality.. sux :P

0 commentsN80+Shozu is back in action! Now Micheal Bay stand aside pls, watch the real Transformer on DVD-19 (China invented?).

Enhancements:
1. Preview mode with viewfinder (yippy!) and grids to better illustrates what's the different "mode" means
2. short cut using navigation keys (up for viewfinder, left for resolution, right for modes, select for snap)
De-enhanced:
1. becoz of a bug in Python s60 3rd, i have to use a bitmapped font in order to display text. this added 2 banggla PNG files added to this release. this is just temporary.
I've succesfuly turn it into a self-installed SIS file, but due to the "self-signed" limitation on capabilities (typically the camera capability) this program will not work unless i apply to release it as freeware (which i am going to do it, later la~)
0 commentsYes, i made it :) The LOMO-N is .. completed (source code here) Few problems no idea how to overcome:
1. my N80 wont allow me to capture at 1280x960 resolution (says out of memory... wtf?! i got 30MB free memory leh~)
2. very Slow! interval of snapshot is like.. more than 5 seconds. I wonder what is the computer doing ??

0 commentsAt first when using BlueSoleil (most dongle come with this) driver for my BT dongle, PC Suite couldn't use it. After some searching around, I found another "generic" BT driver called Widcomm, and now i can use BT connect to PC Suite. ;) Save the trouble of plugging and unplugging the data cable.
http://mininova.org/search/widcomm

BT couple with mRouter and GNUBox also allow your phone to connect to internet via your PC, simulating a wifi environment. Good if your partner is occupying the PC and you want to get online for some light surfing, sending email or IM. (Gonna try this later)

Checkout the GPS screenshots in my flickr. smart2go (the same Nokia Map software you find in N95) is very nice coz it is able to tell me i am currently at Lorong Budiman 1.

0 commentsI recently gotten a Bluetooth GPS device for MPC review so i need a map software to go with it... and of coz, free things are always the best ;) after little Googling, i quickly come by smart2go, a free map software which provide really handful of maps around the world (see screenshot below)
Installation is easy -- download, install, run ;)

You have few ways to to get maps, via your 3G/GPRS line or predownload them using smart2go's MapLoader, or Wifi hotspot. For me, MapLoader is the only viable options.

At this time, Smart2Go also support E61, E70, N73, N93 and WM5 devices. Application screenshot coming after this. :) HooHah!
0 commentsOk in my last post, i told you i flashed my firmware... and the nightmare happened -- the firmware was a european version without chinese support! this makes me really uneasy, beh chiak beh kun...
Adoi... luckily my sifu (Google) got the answer. What i did is to CHANGE the phone's product code using the Nemesis program (see link below). i used 0539367 HONG KONG Pearl Black Internet Edition (support both Simplified and Trad).

After setting the code, just rerun Nokia Software Updater. At first NSU says "you have 4.0707.07, but you can reinstall"... i say "aye aye go ahead" and then after abt 20 minutes or so my N80 is back with Chinese support, including Traditional chinese! ;)

Here's the ref for how to flash your N80 firmware (and a table of product code)

the Guide for N73 can be found here:
http://thenokiablog.com/2006/12/08/how-to-update-nokia-n73-firmware-to-internet-edition
=) i am so so so happy. and the phone is now noticably FASTER than previous EMEA (Euro-Middle-east-America?) Firmware although they are the same version - 4.0707.07.

0 commentsSo here come my first entry about N-series.

Nokia Beta Lab is the place bigN roll out unofficial software for all the nerdy guineapigs to test out and feedback to them.
says Nokia, "Nokia is continuously working on new ideas and innovations and improving our current applications and services. Please try them out and give us your feedback on how we can further improve them. Your feedback goes directly to the development teams that are working on the applications."
if you are bo kia si and willing to waste your time helping the world move forward, here's the URL.
Note: nothing much (or ... nothing fun or useful) there yet.
0 commentsI finally gotten my N80... and to welcome it i am opening a new cawangan in my blog called N80 (duh). Planning to share my experiences and findings on any N-series related stuff here.

Dude I am going to do it! ikan, Sorry about the 2am SMS :)
